RE: ADAPT’s “Free Our People March” Send-off Party

“From The Liberty Bell To Capitol Hill”
Atlantis/ADAPT is having a send-off party for 40 people from Colorado who will be marching from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. to push for passage of MiCASSA, S. 971, and H.R. 2032. MiCASSA will allow people with disabilities who are in nursing homes and other institutions the right to receive attendant services in their homes. The March will take place from September 4th, until September 17th, 2003. 150 ADAPT members will march from the Liberty Bell to Capitol Hill, on a route that will take us through Delaware and Maryland. In Baltimore, an additional 80 marchers will meet us. ADAPT will then continue our march to Washington, D.C. where we’ll be met by 20,000 activists and MiCASSA supporters for a rally at Upper Senate Park at 1:00 pm. The next day, ADAPT will visit senators and congress people to encourage their support for this important piece of legislation. For March route information, click here.
