Freedom Day In Texas

In Austin 15 of us met at the Capitol and delivered a Valentine to our Gov.
support money following the person or will this be the Texas Chainsaw
Valentine?  We'd met with his Legislative Director and head of their health
and human services policy and had gotten the nod for money following the
person, despite - or maybe because of our $10 Billion budget deficit - but
we've found you can't be too sure.  Then we split up and delivered a similar
Valentine to all 180 members of our legislature.

Meanwhile, Desert ADAPT was visiting their Senator and Representative who
are on the House and Senate budget writing committees.  They also delivered
Valentines and messages to support money following the person and not to cut
community based attendant services.

A state representative agreed to introduce legislation for the money
following the person so we don't have to get it put back on the budget every
2 years.  Will keep y'all posted on the progress with that!
