Chicago's Freedom Day Action

ADAPT had a beautiful Valentines Day.  We prepared 5 large handmade lovely
valentines to deliver to 5 very influencial people.
We prepared one for our new Governor Rod Blagojevich, one for our new
Attourney General Lisa Madigan, one for the Speaker of the House,  one for
the President of the Senate,  and finally one for the new Secretary of the
Department of Human Services.  Since the state capital is in Springfield we
did not expect to necessarily give it to them in person but they all have
staff here in Chicago.
We had 25 people show up including an active seniors group represntative.
We started at the Governor office, security was an issue so our mob waited
outside while they went to get the senior official in the office.  We had
written on the back of the Valentine:
Dear Governor Blagojevich, HAVE A HEART.  OUR VALENTINES SUPPORT HOME AND
COMMUNITY SERVICES and HELP SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES STAY OUT OF
NURSING HOMES. WILL YOU BE OUR VALENTINE?  CHICAGO ADAPT.  We had 3
speakers, a person who uses personal assistant services, a senior and a
person who had gotten out of the nursing homes through the re-integration or
Deinstitutionalization program.  The recipients were gracious, many were
also new and were getting our message for the first time.

It looks like Chicago ADAPT had a good Freedom Day, didn't they? You may now return to the Current Events page, the main page of the ADAPT site, or go back home, and check out the rest of my house.

You are visitor #to come in.
